Our screens have since been filled with images of drone strikes, missile attacks, and the devastation they leave behind. Yet beyond the visible destruction lies another serious consequence: a silent killer that poses a security threat to Europe too.
Orthodox Christianity is booming in the West. Conversion stories are everywhere, with Religion Unplugged reporting that many Orthodox congregations in the US have “doubled or tripled in size” since the pandemic. But most of this attention has focused on the largest Orthodox tradition: Eastern Orthodoxy. Far less discussed is Oriental Orthodoxy, and whether it is experiencing anything similar.
Over the past 20 years, several small hatches have appeared on the sides of various buildings across Poland, with the words OKNO ŻYCIA (Window of Life) written above them. Left unlocked, the purpose of these hatches is to offer mothers who wish to surrender their children a safe, legal, and anonymous way to do so.
